Online telephone game
Watch one precise message mutate beyond recognition.

How to play
Mutation Telephone in five steps.
- 1
Start a room and select Mutation Telephone.
- 2
Every player writes a vivid, oddly specific original message.
- 3
Messages rotate and become a short summary, a movie title, and an emoji transmission.
- 4
The next players interpret the emoji and reconstruct what they think the original said.
- 5
Reveal the original and final versions together, then follow every mutation in between.
Example round
A message crosses five different brains
“The finance team adopted a llama on Tuesday” might become “Budget Beast,” then a handful of emoji, and finally “A monster audited the zoo.”
Best for
Use it when the room needs…
- Communication workshops
- Remote teams
- Meeting energizers
- Fans of pass-it-on games
Facilitator tips
Keep the chain moving.
- Ask for specific original messages; concrete details make the drift easier to see.
- Use the broadcast-chaos variation when you want simpler explanations and dramatic alerts.
- At the reveal, ask where meaning first changed rather than who made a mistake.
Participation and accessibility
No spoken whispering is required. Players can read and answer privately, making the mechanic usable for remote rooms and many participants who cannot rely on audio.
